Daniel Pink, the author of Drive, explains the science of motivation and incentives in this highly innovative video presentation. I found his conclusions fascinating and somewhat counter-intuitive: http://bit.ly/ckwck.
Both the content and presentation form (accelerated whiteboard drawings to accompany author narrative) are excellent.
Bottom line: you don't need to be a triple bottom line company to ensure that your employees and stakeholders are motivated by purpose (as well as the concepts of autonomy and mastery). And for mission-driven companies, this is sweet and vindicating music.
